TESTIMONIALS

I recently graduated from NCP in 2010, and I now have the knowledge of a nurse all thanks to NCP... school is wonderful, faculty is helpful, and I am a nurse. NCP is straight to the point and gets you to reach your goal as a nurse. THANK YOU
NCP! -- G.S. (4/20/2011)

I decided to change my career at the age of 47. I knew that I wanted to get into nursing and had time to do some homework on the many different programs offered around the bay area. Some of the criteria for me were cost, convenient location, and a good education that would enable me to succeed in this chosen field, and I wanted to be able to hit the ground running as soon as I finished the program. Now granted this is not the Ivy League of schools and it does need some cosmetic work, but the facility and grounds are maintained by the Unified School District and the maintenance and upkeep are up to them. NCP leases the facility from them. Some of the posts here obviously have issues with weeds and such, but you have to look past that as it’s just cosmetic (and it’s not as bad as posters here are saying). If you are looking for water fountains and espresso machines, then this is not the place for you.

Never judge a book by its cover!

I received a good education here and although there were some good and bad, I enjoyed my time here, and was able to attain a good solid foundation for continuing on to my next phase of attaining my RN.

The staff here has always been very helpful and has always been able to assist me with any issues that have come up.

The instructors are very knowledgeable and were able to guide me through the classes and all the clinicals. They are tough when they need to be and I liked that, as we are dealing with people’s lives here and it’s not just our reputations at stake, but theirs as well.
Overall NCP is a very good school with great staff and instructors, their pass rates are one of the highest in the state and they accomplish this with an excellent NCLEX review before graduation. The convenience of the location and cost of the program were perfect for me; but if you want a Latte, you are going to pay much more, and doubtfully learn anymore than I did.

You will get out of it what you put into it! -- Vernon G. (4/19/2011)

I had a wonderful experience at this school from the time I called to ask for information about their LVN program to the time I graduated last November. The administration staff is friendly & HELPFUL. With so many students enrolled, they seem to remember everyone's names, even mine, when I would go to the office to ask a question...The teachers were GREAT! Some of the classes were challenging, but the teachers were there ready & willing to help you, even outside of class. I can tell that they want you to learn & be successful because when they teach, they are very passionate about it. They care about their students' success and want you to be the best nurse you can be...The enrollment process is pretty easy to follow. The fee for the LVN program was not so bad and they even helped me apply for the Sallie Mae Student Loan....Don't pay too much attention to the physical appearance of the school, which is not important. What is important is the quality of the LVN program itself and the NCP teachers and staff that will support you all the way. --Belinda R. (4/2/2011)

I am a recent grad of the LVN program and was very pleased with my experience at NCP. We had excellent instructors that were informative and wanted their students to succeed. I know that there were times that even RN material was covered. The administration actually cared about the students and listened to concerns and did their best to accommodate or fix problems. We also got to go to a variety of facilities from SNFs to hospitals to long-term care where we also learned from a variety of clinical instructors. The school also has a very high pass rate and is also quite a bit less money than comparable private programs in the area. The school does need a bit of upgrading but we always had plenty of supplies and mannequins to work with in skills lab. (I think they just installed new computers in the lab right before our batch graduated). Overall I would recommend this school to potential students that don't want to wait forever on a wait list and want a quality education. --Healther O. (3/28/2011)

I am an LVN graduate from this school last Nov. 2010. I just want to say that you cannot judge the book by its cover. This school might not be perfect physically but the teachers and administration was great...they taught me how to become a great LVN and even more than that. The teachers really know their stuff and the administration was so helpful. They are my family outside home. I've been trained at different facilities which I think is a point ahead from the other schools 'cause I heard that some schools only train their students in one facility. If you guys are going to ask me if I will recommend this school...OF COURSE I WILL...I love this school...^_^ --Irish F. (3/28/2011)

I have been to other universities in California, but NCP South San Francisco had the best teachers that nurtured my mind, body, and soul. They have built a strong foundation of my nursing practice. I have taken the best of what they offered me and use it to the best of my abilities. No other location, company, or setting can compare to the experiences I have gained here at NCP South San Francisco. I will surely miss my wonderful teachers, loving staff, classmates, and great friends... You are in my heart and in my thoughts. :-) --Rhoda D. (3/22/2011)

Most people are perplexed: EDUCATION IS A PRIVILEGE. After attending a few different universities here in California and receiving my bachelor’s degree of science, in addition to an administrator license, I LOVE NCP! I visited many nursing colleges here in the Bay Area prior to attending NCP. I found NCP to have the best organization. The current passing rate for NCLEX is above 90%.

NCP is a great school for nursing! The LVN program has a wonderful director surrounded by amazing instructors who bring forth their gifts of knowledge and experiences in nursing. All of the instructors provide a nurturing environment for learning and development of student nurses. They really are very empowering!
Despite the school's limitations for campus "pleasantry" and student comfort, the staff does try hard to accommodate students' needs. However, any drastic changes to: the campus, their curriculum, and staff development takes time for approval due to state and city administration processes. Nevertheless, NCP's top priority is student education.

Keep in mind; Why do you want to be a nurse? What kind of a nurse?........ "A good nurse will stand out!  A good nurse is knowledgeable, skillfully competent, culturally aware, provides therapeutic communication, from the bad ones, for sure," and encompasses the different personalities of nursing. These are emphasized in the fundamentals of nursing and are NONJUDGMENTAL. Most of all, professional accountability of basic SAFETY practices and ongoing training at NCP. The instructors demonstrate and expect their students to apply the most highly valued "holistic approach" for all patient care.

NCP develops their nursing students to be safe and competent. NCP also prepares their students to be dynamic in the progressing changes of healthcare. I hope it continues to excel in accomplishments..... . by producing aspiring nurses to be "great nurses."

I am very lucky and proud to be in this school! --Anonymous (3/22/2010)

Even if NCP is leasing this facility from SSFUSD and it's not the most modern place, I think it's what is taught within the classroom that matters most. I'm halfway done with the LVN program and I really hope the next half gets me where I want to be. --Jon P. (1/7/2011)

Don't let the exterior of the school fool you!!!! NCP College of Nursing in South San Francisco, CA is a great place if you want to get a jump start on your path to becoming a nurse. My experience was great. Even though its only a one-year vocational nursing (LVN) program, the teachers really guide and make sure you learn what you need in order to pass the NCLEX-PN. The office staff is very friendly and will make sure you get in your required forms and payments in on time. The facility itself doesn't look like much, but its more about the great people who teach and guide you that makes this great school what it is. Also, you'll get to do your clinical practices at hospitals like S.F. General Hospital, Laguna Honda, and Jewish Home, which I thought were great places to learn. Give NCP College of Nursing in South San Francisco, CA a shot. You'll be glad you did. --Mark M. (12/1/2010)
